September in Kongo

Image
September came to a close and it was an eventful month. In Accra, Ghana interred one of its dearest sons, Kofi Annan. In New York at the UN general assembly, world leaders convened to discuss global challenges and goals. At the same time, the world marked the third anniversary of the adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, a “blueprint to achieve a better more sustainable future for all”. Here in Kongo village, we continue day in and day to build resilient communities by supporting three  cooperatives in creating economic opportunities for women one basket, one seedling and one shea butter pouch at a time. T he work of these cooperatives impact women’s lives and that of their families. This month brought a lot of changes into my daily life. First, a new EU Aid Volunteer from Italy arrived, Diana. She will be working as an ict teacher and she was already a friend, since we spent two trainings in Austria and Tallinn together! Then my supervisor and Mondo's Soci...

Silja Mall Ghanat avastamas

Image
Sissejuhatus MTÜ Mondo oli saatnud laiali juba mitmeid üleskutseid loodusainete õpetaja vabatahtliku tööle Ghanasse. Aastaks. Mida enam äramineku aeg lähenes, seda rohkem lasti raadiost lugusid: härra Albanilt „hello, Africa, tell me how you´re doin´..“  ja „I bless the rains down in Africa“ Totolt. Kummaline igatahes. Teised postitused tule...

My September in Kongo, Ghana

My September in Kongo, Ghana. 6.09.2018 - Introduction to KoCDA. Kongo, Ghana. Hello everyone, here is Diana Tancredi, 31 years old from Italy and since one month now, EU Aid Volunteer deployed by Mondo in Kongo (Ghana). My project last six months and is about capacity building and education, more specifically, having a university degree in computer science, to develop ICT capacity in the community. I arrived in Kongo the evening of the 5th of September, when it was dark, welcomed by Jasmin, the other volunteer, so I could see the place only the day after. That day I had a meeting with the host organization, KoCDA, our partner, to introduce me to some of the members and our mentor or, as Victor More said, the Director of KoCDA, to know my “new fathers and mothers”. The 6th of September, also Diana Tamm arrived and she stayed with us for 12 days, so I could do the first steps with her and that was a big help for me. ...
